Season's first outside cake buffet
Last weekend my hubby had invited some friends over. Luckily the weather was nice so that I was able to perform an official grand opening of the "outside cake buffet season". I love this "season", as I can finally test and use the new furniture that I bought during the cold winter months. First outside buffet of the year usually also puts my hubby's endless questioning to an end. "Where are you planning to place all these new vintage armchairs ?". I also tried two drink dispensers with tabs that I filled with ice, fruits, juice and water. They worked amazing and they will definitely be used all summer long.
Cute Summer Indoor Bunting
To clear out all sorts of crafty leftovers, I came up with the idea for this summer bunting. Little crochet things, buttons, tapes and laces are piling up everywhere at our house and their presence might get questioned by the hubby. So a bunting is the perfect camouflage. However, since the weather is not so nice yet, I had to put it up indoors. I am very happy with the result. Although it looks a little bit too white to me. I will think of adding a vintage look by my usual "Earl Grey" tea coloring before I put it on the front porch.
Leftovers from Easter
From a decoration point of view, Easter definitely went by too quickly. I still have some cute 'unposted' pictures. So before the next decoration season comes along, here is everything form a very healthy Easter breakfast with fruit filled Granola shells and Easter buns to a little airwalker bunny enjoying to be in the background of a herb basket.
Table Decoration for Easter
A quick reminder to you and myself, that it is definitely time to set up the table decoration for Easter. I started in the kitchen with these amazing flowers and the set of "Easter" stamped eggs. No, the bunny coffee set is not part of the decoration as it disappeared pretty quickly after the picture was taken. I consider the photographer to be a suspect.
New Cupboard and Cabinet for my Things
For my upcoming birthday, I made it very easy for my husband. No searching and thinking, he just had to pay for a couple of new items to store some of my things. So we went to Amsterdam, to Van Dijk. For me, this is just the best "shabby chic" furniture place around. Luckily for my hubby the drive is long and the space in the car is limited so things can not get totally out of hands. But what he doesn´t know yet, I am planning to re-visit soon.
The Blue Door Project
It all started with a friend of mine saying that he had a vintage blue door that I might like. Of course, bring it on. So, a couple of hours later the door was delivered. But what to do with it ? Is it going to be a table or stay a door ? I don´t know yet. I was only sure that it needed some additional "vintage". So Ina helped me trying to cover it with roses for it´s new yet to be determined purpose. I promise, I´ll let you know the minute I know what it is. Due to the perfect weather, it was so much fun finally working outside again, so we took some more pictures of the 'homeless' cat observing our activity (aka sleeping) and our house in the spring evening sun.
A very special Baby Shower for the new Mum to be
I tried to gather the best ideas for a popup stall to bring to my friend Dani's baby shower party. Maybe they inspire you too. For a boy, I decided to put it into an all blue/taupe/grey decorating scheme. As the name is not 'fixed' yet, I could only use sewed "baby boy" letters. One-pieces are cute way to decorate the stall. The problem was that I could not find any biker- or rocker style baby rompers on the german market. Thats why I tried to enrich some basic onesie's with a bow and a tie, as well as braces und scarfs as add on. Since Dani is eating at least for two, the mom-to-be deserves a menu that is doubly delicious. I just love the tiny little yellow caterpillar which is downloading crushed oreos. I also filled decorated bottles with a mixture of cranberry and apple juice and a delightful splash of bubbly ginger ale. Dani also loves cinnamon rolls as well as cheesecake, so I just combined the two recipes into one. Voila! The first cinnamon roll cheesecake was to be tested on that day.
Heart Shaped Peanut Butter Cookies
Yes, I know, VD is over (I am not even mentioning the name), but that should not stop you from having a sweet and hearty breakfast together with milk like those peanut butter cookies. Whilst I am at it, I also have some leftover table decorations pictures from the day I am no longer mentioning. Moving on to spring then, not such a bad idea anyway.
Christmas Stockings for furry friends
I have have spent the last two saturdays at the sewing machine. The idea was to make christmas stockings for a couple of friend's pets. I am convinced that every cute furry creature needs it`s own stocking where all the christmas gifts are stored. The challenge was, that the stocking matches the style of the owner. So I made a glamorous 'Flamant' colored stocking for Anna's not yet existing but highly anticipated puppy 'Caramel'. Gropius and Jack, two cats, got fish shape stockings. Actually Gropius is a purely white cat living in a 'Bauhaus' home, but the all over printed cats on the fabric where too cute to follow the rules. I hope that Gropius doesn't mind.
