Carrot Cake Cheesecake with Vanilla Frosting
Let the yumm begin. One of my favorite doings is to turn already existing and proven recipes into something new. Well, sometimes it works and turns out to be great, but sometimes you just have to forget that you had the idea in the first place. But this time the result was brilliant, exciting, good looking and yummie! What was I up to ? I wondered if a combination from two of my favorite cake recipes would be working out? So I took half of the carrot cake recipe and half of the NY cheesecake recipe from my book and layered both into one baking tin. Well, glad I did. Both batters are a combination created in heaven, they taste wonderful together, and no piece of the cake was left over! Everything is gone up to the last crumb! There is no better result than this, right?
Season's first outside cake buffet
Last weekend my hubby had invited some friends over. Luckily the weather was nice so that I was able to perform an official grand opening of the "outside cake buffet season". I love this "season", as I can finally test and use the new furniture that I bought during the cold winter months. First outside buffet of the year usually also puts my hubby's endless questioning to an end. "Where are you planning to place all these new vintage armchairs ?". I also tried two drink dispensers with tabs that I filled with ice, fruits, juice and water. They worked amazing and they will definitely be used all summer long.

Salted Caramel Chocolate Doughnuts
I always wanted to do a Doughnut tower. But how high can I get? Four, five or maybe even six depending on size. However, with my smaller home made chocolate doughnuts I decided to be safe and stay on level four. The salty bretzels are not helping with stability but are a very interesting addition in taste to the sweet caramel. That's all that matters. Yum.

Cinnamon Rolls with warm Caramel Nut Sauce
Last weekend, there just had to be Cinnamon Rolls. I took the base recipe from my book and did some experimenting with the frosting. Since I have recently become a true caramel lover, I tried a warm caramel nut sauce. So, I simply melted brown sugar, butter, heavy cream (all from the top of the calorie leaderboard) together with almonds. The taste was incredible. Compared to traditional cinnamon rolls the sauce is way thinner and is more 'absorbed' by the roll. The result is a soaked mixture of pure yummieness.

Peanutbutter Apple Cake with Caramel Drizzle
Sometimes on a Sunday, especially when the weather is bad, I just have to bake something. So this time I was experimenting with apples, peanutbutter and a dark caramel. As a basis for the cake, I used a standard Victoria Sponge recipe out of my book and added 10.000 cal of peanutbutter and a couple of apple slices. To also try something new with caramel, I made it dark. However, I had to be careful there as dark caramel is not as soft as the lighter version. In order to not pull all your teeth out, I only drizzled it on top of the cake. Looks yummy, but I am not 100% happy with the result in taste. But definitely worth exploring further. Maybe I need to use more apples next time.

Afternoon Tea Cake Buffet
Last weekend, I took my new cake buffet furniture (and my cute Easter headwear) for a spin and had a couple of friends over for an "Late Easter Afternoon Tea". I also tested some new recipes. My favorite were the salted caramel peanutbutter bars, a modification of the caramel shortbread from my book with an additional layer of peanut butter. From the lovely emails I receive, I know that some of you are asking "how can I attend these things ?". I always have to say that "unfortunately, I am only doing this as a hobby" and it sometimes takes months until I find the time to set the next one up. This usually makes it "friends only". I promise to do better, maybe towards Christmas, I´ll keep you posted.

Leftovers from Easter
From a decoration point of view, Easter definitely went by too quickly. I still have some cute 'unposted' pictures. So before the next decoration season comes along, here is everything form a very healthy Easter breakfast with fruit filled Granola shells and Easter buns to a little airwalker bunny enjoying to be in the background of a herb basket.

Birthday Cake Buffet
I love birthdays, especially my own. But it always comes and goes too fast. It´s already been almost 2 weeks. Luckily, I still have pictures of the little buffet to "post" from it. So it feels more like it was a 2 week event.

Strawberry Cheesecake
For last Sunday's cake buffet (Pictures coming up this week, I promise), I wanted to do another Cheesecake variation. I love Cheesecake, so I tried one with Strawberries. Looking at it, it feels way more summer'ish than March. My only problem was that at first guests did not really dare to cut it with all those beautiful fruits on top.
The recipe is a variation of the New York Cheesecake that you can find in my German book "Backen mit Love" (click on the pic to enlarge). For it´s beautiful colour, I just added 3 tablespoon of mashed strawberries to the filling and replaced the blueberry topping with sour cream and fresh strawberries. My original recipe below. If you are not so into German, you can find lot´s of New York Cheesecake recipe variations on the internet.

Caramel Chocolate Cheesecake with Oreo Crust
Well, Caramel Chocolate Cheesecake with Oreo Crust. Do I need to say more ? I am trying new recipes and this will definitely make the short list. However, as it is Monday, you don´t really want to know what´s in there. The only good news about the bad weather is that low temperatures help with the layering of the caramel and the chocolate.

Yummy Ginger Cake
Since years, this is my favourite cake. Easy to to make, with a warm golden color and a pleasant spicy flavor - just the right thing to enjoy with a cuppa tea on a rainy sunday!
I used ginger syrup, which my sister in law gave me as a gift. Unfortunately the hubby hates ginger, I do not know why. Well, who wants a grumpy hubby at home?? So I reserved him a thick slice of banana bread. This should keep him happy.

Heart Shaped Peanut Butter Cookies
Yes, I know, VD is over (I am not even mentioning the name), but that should not stop you from having a sweet and hearty breakfast together with milk like those peanut butter cookies. Whilst I am at it, I also have some leftover table decorations pictures from the day I am no longer mentioning. Moving on to spring then, not such a bad idea anyway.

Indoor Smores
This weekend I was planning on making some S'mores over the campfire. Well, lot´s of rain, so no campfire. However, with a little bit of creativity S'mores can also be fun indoors. I melted the marshmallows in a pan and instead of cookies I just added some cereals and put the chocolate on top. It´s quick and easy with only one more thing to add: "calorie counters you better stay away from them".

Apple Oatmeal Cinnamon Bars
Today my friend Julia (the one from my book who makes the Macarons, www.monkeyjolie.de) is visiting. Although, it´s kind of sad, as she'll be moving to Switzerland soon. In order to make sure not to become too melancholic, I decided to bake something that combines her two most favorite cake ingredients. Apple and Cinnamon. I am sure she likes it.

New Year`s Resolution Test: Pumpkin Cinnamon Swirl Bread
A Pumpkin Cinnamon Swirl Bread served as a French Toast is the perfect thing to put your new year`s resolution stamina to the test. Do you still obey your 'less sweets in the new year' resolution or is this rule melting away in this rich maple syrup topped piece of yummieness?

Yummy Boxing Day Breakfast
with Sticky Pumpkin Cinnamon Rolls & Eggnog Frosting and Gingerbread Man Shaped Granola. After Christmas, I wanted to do some fun breakfast. Question #1 was: How to combine my favorite Christmas items pumpkin, cinnamon and eggnog to something yummy? I decided to slightly change the recipe for cinnamon rolls from my book. Instead of adding potatoes, I used pumpkin mash. For the filling, I added pumpkin spice and one cup of eggnog to the original cream cheese frosting.
As granola is always a good option for breakfast, I just added one egg white to the recipe to make sure that the mixture will really glue together and stay in shape. The little guys look so cute, that I nearly did not want to bite their head or arms off! I also wrapped some up to have additional gifts for friends and neighbors. Normally I use cinnamon and some nutmeg as spice for the granola, but to give it a more winter feeling, I put in ginger and cloves in there as well.
